This legislation is an assault on the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and is strongly supported by corporations to tighten their control over their employees. It doesn’t matter that you or your family need care when illness occurs; Corporate America wants to fire you even when you’re ill. FMLA needs to be expanded, not rolled-back. |

One measure of economic pain is the number of people out of work six months or more, long enough to exhaust their unemployment benefits. The Labor Department classifies them as long-term unemployed, and their numbers stayed stubbornly high even during the recent good times. |

IVR, or Interactive Voice Response, it's the scourge of the technological world. Even if you don't know it by its official name, you certainly have dealt with IVR, probably on a weekly basis. IVR is better known colloquially as voice mail jail, voice mail hell, the black hole, and much less savory terms. But whatever you call it, everybody hates "talking to the computer." So if everyone hates it, why are company’s so in love with it? |
