AT&T-Bell South Merger This merger should be opposed until AT&T gives employment guarantee’s and job security to all bargaining unit members. The company has a long history of manipulating and sharp shooting our contract while making promises for our co-operation and support they never planned to keep. Their only motivation is to get what they want and then toss us to the curb. |

AT&T has notified the C&T office that the lay-off scheduled for AT&T Corp on Tuesday June 13, 2006 has been put on hold. The Company has not notified the Union of a new surplus declaration date. The Company continues to demonstrate their inability to take into account the personal hardship this uncertainly has on our Members. |

AFL-CIO Seeks China Labor Sanctions |

The AFL-CIO on Thursday June 8 petitioned the Bush administration to impose trade sanctions on China for violating international labor standards, according to this report published by The Journal of Commerce Online.The petition accused China of using child and forced labor and firing, beating or imprisoning workers who attempt to form unions, all in violation of U.S. trade law, which makes the repression of workers' rights an unfair trade practice. |
