CWA-Avaya Bargaining Report

The Bargaining committee chairs from the Unions and Avaya met most of the day today trying to get closer to an agreement. The Unions presented a comprehensive counter proposal on Healthcare to Avaya. The company said they will look at it and get back to us tomorrow. The major issues remaining are Healthcare for both active and retirees, Pensions and Wages.

Telecoms Call For Legal Fixes After Katrina

Days after Hurricane Katrina pummeled the Gulf Coast last August, repair crews hoping to breathe life into a damaged telephone network were temporarily blocked by government officials who refused to give phone company workers permission to enter a disaster-stricken area.

AT&T Payroll Change Effective January 2007

A Stipulation to the CWA/AT&T 2005 Contract has been agreed to by the Union and the Company concerning the movement of approximately 7000 AT&T employees, currently paid weekly, to bi-weekly pay.  The Company approached the Union because “SBC’s” employees are all paid bi-weekly, thus having a separate weekly payroll system for AT&T Corp employees, which caused SBC to incur an added expense.
