Appendix 5 of the CWA/AT&T Agreement effective December 11,2005 has been compiled and may be viewed on http://files.cwa-union.org/ComTech/Members/2005CWAAPPENDIX51138218715000.pdf This includes the wages and pension bands for titles in business units covered by the CWA/AT&T contract that was ratified in January 2006. |

General Motors, with a $90.9 billion pension fund – the largest among U.S. companies – announced on March 7 that it will freeze pension benefits for nonunion workers. The move will cut the company’s costs by $1.6 billion in 2006 and reduce benefits for 42,000 salaried GM employees. |

Two months after the New York Times revealed that the Bush Administration ordered the National Security Agency to conduct warrantless surveillance of American citizens, only three corporations--AT&T, Sprint and MCI--have been identified by the media as cooperating. If the reports in the Times and other newspapers are true, these companies have allowed the NSA to intercept thousands of telephone calls, fax messages and e-mails without warrants from a special oversight court established by Congress under the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). |
