This is an excellent bargained-for benefit that provides for 15 Lucent scholarships of up to $6,500.00 annually, renewable three times. In order to be eligible, high school seniors must have a minimum of a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have participated in community or school volunteer activities.
The application period for the year 2007 CWA/IBEW/Lucent Academic Awards Program is now open. Attached is the application that contains information regarding the program and the application process. Information on how to obtain additional copies of the application can be found on page 2 of the attachment.
Completed applications must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2006. Only calendar year 2007 applications will be accepted, so if you have any left from last year, please destroy them.
The volunteer service portion on the application is very important when filling out the application. Since the majority of applicants have high GPA's, the next determining factor for successful candidates usually is volunteer service. |
