Lucent announced an operations lay-off of 5 TG6 Contract Clerks in the Alpharetta, Georgia GCA without proper notification to the CWA National Office.

We do not consider this an official notification to the
Union since it is missing most of the information required for a surplus
notification. The force adjustment procedure calls for Union
Notification the day before notice to the employees. Once the Union is
notified, the past practice is to notify the at risk employees the
following day which starts the 60 day clock. That has not happened so
this surplus should not be taking place.

Your Union has submitted a thirteen (13) item data request to Lucent to obtain the Company’s reasons for this lay-off and we will keep you informed of the progress of this challenge.
