We are pleased to announce that two of our Member’s children have been selected to receive the CWA/IBEW/AT&T Scholarship award. Melissa Field’s son, Sidney Fields, and Rich Davis’s son, Rashad Davis are recipients of the 2007 scholarship award to the college of their choice. Melissa and Rich are Comm Techs at 2800 Century Center, Atlanta and are Union members that have instilled their union values to their children.
This scholarship program was negotiated by CWA and IBEW in 1992 and improved during 1995 bargaining. It provides for 28 scholarships of up to $6,500 annually for children of CWA and IBEW members at AT&T. The award is renewable for three additional years, if the student maintains a 2.75 GPA to be determined after the first semester of their sophomore year and each semester thereafter. This change allows recipients an eighteen months “grace” period to adjust to college life. These scholarships demonstrate your Union’s commitment to our childrens education. We understand that as our members instill union values to their children, they then can bring about positive change in the world when accompanied with a strong educational background. These scholarships are yet another example of our Union bargaining to help our members and their families. On behalf of all the Members of Local 3250, we congratulate Sidney Fields and Rashad Davis as they continue their educational aspirations and pursue their dreams. Roy Hegenbart President/Local 3250 |
