AT&T: 3rd & 4th Quarter Surplus Declaration Windows |

AT&T has revised the surplus declaration windows for the third and forth quarters for 2007 due to the bi-weekly pay cycle associated with the eLink system. The new dates have pushed the announcement and off payroll dates out about a week. It is unfortunate that the company is contemplating lay-offs while they still retain contractors to perform bargaining unit work.
During the current lay-off, the Union successfully negotiated the retention of surplused NTS Techs who were given the opportunity to bump contractors. The NTS Techs were then able to remain on the payroll at their current full time status and retain their wages and benefits. This is an extremely important agreement for our Union and has created a positive direction for Union/Company relations at AT&T. This could be the beginning of a solution for dealing with the contractor issue that we may be able to build upon and expand in the future. The officers at Local 3250 advocated very strongly for this solution and C&T Vice President, Ralph Maly was able to successfully convince the Company that this was in the best interests of both the Company and Union. We want to thank all our Union Reps that participated and hope that this will signal a new direction in Labor/Management relations at AT&T. Remember, In Unity There Is Strength.
