Techs’ Diligence Has Contractor Removed |
|
Tuesday, 04 September 2007 |
At the downtown AT&T Building in Minneapolis, it was reported that a vendor installing company called Goodman had begun an addition to the Alcatel DACS lineup. This was work that should have been performed by CWA installers who work for Alcatel/Lucent instead of a subcontractor such as Goodman.
The onsite AT&T technician followed the WMS guidelines for dealing with contractors. There is a “supplier feedback report” form, and these are considered serious. In the four days that the contractor was doing the work, five “supplier feedback reports” were filed against the subcontractor Goodman. After four days, AT&T kicked Goodman out of the building. This is a part of a Techs job and the technician was protecting AT&T from substandard work being performed by a subcontractor. We would hope all AT&T Techs are as diligent about their jobs as this Tech in Minneapolis. This policy or practice should be followed by all AT&T technicians when you see a subcontractor performing in an unsafe or reckless manner. If you follow the established practices, then we don’t have to worry about shoddy work being performed by subcontractors. AT&T doesn’t accept shoddy work from our Members; now we can ensure the same is true with subcontractors. In Unity, Ralph V. Maly Vice President Communications & Technologies
