Attention SBC and AT&T Employees
Thursday, 11 October 2007

It has been brought to our attention that the company has a hidden plan to integrate SBC techs into AT&T core offices. This plan appears to replace AT&T core employees with SBC techs that will be divided into tiered workgroups creating sub standard wages, a recall of retired technicians to staff many of these positions, to retain only 5% of current SBC techs in the highest paid tiered workgroup, and to increase management to reflect a 15 to 1 management to occupational ratio. If this plan is implemented it will eliminate 30% of the Legacy T bargaining unit and reduce the wages and job security of all technicians involved in AT&T network operations. Now is the time to establish a National Bargaining Committee that will address the issues affecting all Members at AT&T.
In unity,

TO ALL CWA Legacy S and Legacy T Bargaining Unit members/retirees.

Sisters & Brothers:

at$t Network Operations Workforce Optimization/Local Field Operations Executive Overview!

I have just obtained a partial copy of a document titled, "at$t Network Operations Workforce Optimization/Local Field Operations Executive Overview", dated June 2006. Page 2 lists names, titles and areas of responsibility of twenty-seven (27) at$t Legacy S high level managers and a lone at$t Legacy T Vice President, Horace Starr. Was Starr' participation as a member of the Legacy S Network Optimization LFO Team in violation of Section 272 of the 1984 Divestiture stipulation, which is not scheduled to sunset until November 2007? This is a question that should be answered by at$t and perhaps the current Bush administration in Washington, DC. The proposed at$T Workforce restructuring and LFO-In/LFO-out proposals would create a three-tiered wage structure, immediate downgrades for several current Legacy S CWA and IBEW job titles, more contracting out of bargaining unit work and will continue the ongoing decimation and/or elimination of the Legacy T bargaining unit. This posting will be updated as I receive the information.
