2008 AT&T Legacy T Academic Awards Program
Tuesday, 05 February 2008

There is less than two weeks left to submit applications for the 2008 Academic Awards Program, which provides scholarships for children of eligible AT&T bargained-for employees (Legacy "T" CWA and IBEW).  Applications and all supporting documentation must be emailed or postmarked by February 15, 2008

These awards make a significant statement to youth about the importance of intellectual development and community involvement. This program originally began in 1992 as part of Operation 2000 and is a direct result of Union negotiations between AT&T, CWA and IBEW. More information is available here.

This is an excellent bargained-for benefit that provides for 28 AT&T scholarships of up to $6,500.00 annually, renewable three times. In order to be eligible, high school seniors must have a minimum of a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have participated in community or school volunteer activities. Award amounts are based on the total cost of tuition, required academic fees, room and board, less the amount of other grants and scholarships a student receives, not to exceed $6,500. The award may be renewed each year for not more than three years or until an undergraduate degree is earned, whichever comes first. The award money can be used for tuition, required books, required academic fees, and room and board (not including allowance for living at home, personal expenses and travel costs).

To submit an application or obtain more information click on here.  AT&T Supervisors are encouraged to share this information with their employees who do not have access to email and were not properly notified by the company.

In unity,
