Since the Company has completed its merger between SBC, AT&T and BellSouth it seems they are introducing new workplace rules on a daily basis. Now it is more important than ever to review your personnel file on a yearly basis to verify that the Company has not introduced documentation that you are unaware of. You have a right and are entitled to view your entire file after you have notified the company of your request.
Article 13-Personnel Records Once in each year (and more frequently in unique circumstances where the employee so requests and the Company agrees), employees shall, upon their request, inspect their personnel records in accordance with the Company’s practices concerning inspection of personnel and/or medical records. Go to HROneStop Access the ATT 163 – Request to review Employee Records Fill out Section 1 In Section 2, it says, “I request an appointment to view my Employee Personnel File.” Documents to view (check all that apply). You need to check all the boxes and then – Click Other and type in “working file”Then go to top of page and click File and e-mail the form to your supervisor.
The working file is the one that your manager holds with all of their comments, observations, & reviews. AT&T is instructed to show employee’s only the files requested, which in many offices does not give you access to all entries that supervisors and managers have recorded in your file. Protect yourself and inspect your personnel file, if it is inaccurate notify your supervisor or dispute it by filing a grievance. In unity there is strength. Roy Hegenbart President CWA Local 3250
