Attention NTS Technicians-Article 43
Thursday, 29 May 2008

It has come to the Union’s attention that in some areas of the country, NTS techs are having problems with “On-Call Payments.” The Union discussed this issue with at&t Labor Relations. It was emphasized that, while the company does not have to ask for employees in every office to volunteer to carry a beeper or company cell phone out-of-hours, they do have to offer “On-Call” pay if they expect employees to be available.

If you are not asked to be “On-Call”, you should turn off your beepers and company cell phones when you leave work. You are NOT required to answer when the company tries to reach you for a call-in unless you are receiving “On-Call” payments.

If you are experiencing difficulties with your manager abiding by this procedure, please contract your area Vice President with the location and the name of the manager. AT&T Labor Relations stated that they clearly understood that, if you are asked to be available to work out of hours, the company must pay the “On-Call” payment; and they will follow up with managers who are not complying.

In Unity There Is Strength,
