Preparing For AT&T Contract Bargaining
Thursday, 18 September 2008
We have just sent out Bargaining Surveys out in Departmental Rep packages to be disbursed to our members in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. This is being done by all Locals across the country representing Legacy T members’. Our Dept Reps should be handing them out in the next couple of days. They will be collected by your Vice President or Dept Rep to be returned to Local 3250 by October 6, 2008.

They will be reviewed by the CWA elected Bargaining Committee (which I am a member of) and the results will be reported to our Members’.

Members’ will also be solicited for bargaining demands which will probably go out to our members sometime in December 2008 to be used along with the Bargaining Surveys to prepare for bargaining with AT&T in April 2009.

If you do not receive your Bargaining Survey, please contact your area Vice President.

Did You Know?

The CWA Members’ Relief Fund was established by the 1990 CWA Convention. Its’ funding is maintained by an allocation of ¼ hour of basic wages (.15%) per month from members and agency fee payers who are eligible to strike.

CWA Members’ Relief Fund money is used for direct assistance to strikers and victims of collective bargaining strategies and other approved mobilization actions. Currently there is approximately $380 million in the fund.

Currently, the weekly benefit to strikers and victims is $200.00 beginning with the fifteenth day of the strike and $300.00 per week beginning with the twenty-ninth day of the strike. Members’ Relief Fund payments end on the seventh day following the conclusion of the strike.

Remember, the CWA/AT&T Legacy T Contract expires on April 4, 2009 and now is the time to prepare for the struggle ahead. We only receive what we are prepared to fight for.

In unity there is strength,

Roy Hegenbart
President
CWA Local 3250
