CE II Title Upgrade
Wednesday, 15 October 2008
The Company and the Union have agreed to promote employees listed in Appendix A from the CE II (Customer Engineer II) position to a CE III (Customer Engineer III) position effective October 5, 2008. This was agreed to in a Stipulation between AT&T Corp and CWA as settlement prior to arbitration and resolves grievances that were filed from CWA Local’s across the country, including CWA Local 3250.

The Company will temporarily grandfather those employees in a CE II position, in Appendix A, who are grandfathered at the time this Stipulation is signed for the CE III KT2 test due to their current, valid CCNA certifications. They will be permanently grandfathered by the Company six (6) months after the effective date of the promotion provided they remain a CE III.

Those employees in a CE II position, in Appendix A, who are not grandfathered at the time this Stipulation was signed, September 24, 2008, as a result of having a current, valid CCNA certification may request CE III KT2 test grandfathering by contacting the ATS Service Center six (6) months after the effective date of the promotion and request grandfathering on the CE III KT2 test as a result of being in the position for six (6) months.

In the past the company has utilized the CE II title to back fill the CE III in the workplace. The Union’s position had remained that the CE III positions should have been staffed by the same title and with Regular Full Time employees. The upgrade of the CE II’s who were already performing on a regular basis the duties and responsibilities of the CE III title, is a reasonable solution and settlement to this issue. Even though it has taken years of struggle with the Company to reach this agreement we thank all the many members, stewards and staff us prevail on this settlement.

In unity,

Roy Hegenbart
President
CWA local 3250
